METONE BAM-1022 Beta Attenuation Mass Monitor

Overview

The Met One BAM-1022 is a compact, continuous beta attenuation mass monitor that measures the real-time concentration of ambient particulate matter (PM2.5 or PM10). It draws air across a glass-fibre filter tape and measures the attenuation of beta rays from a small carbon-14 source as particulate accumulates, giving a direct, gravimetrically-traceable mass measurement without the drift associated with optical methods.

Designated a US EPA Class III Federal Equivalent Method for PM2.5, the BAM-1022 samples for virtually the full 60 minutes of every hour, delivering hourly concentration data with one-minute time resolution. Its all-in-one enclosure, active mass-flow control and simplified filter-tape handling make it well suited to regulatory air-quality networks, remote monitoring stations and rapid deployment.
