The Megger MPAC208 Professional Acoustic Imaging Camera is an advanced industrial acoustic camera designed for fast, accurate detection of gas leaks, partial discharge, mechanical faults, and ultrasonic sound sources. Built for predictive maintenance teams, utilities, manufacturing plants, and industrial inspection professionals, the MPAC208 helps identify hidden issues without shutting down equipment or interrupting operations.
Using a high-performance 208-channel MEMS microphone array, the MPAC208 detects ultrasonic activity across a wide frequency range from 2 kHz to 100 kHz. This allows users to locate even small compressed air or gas leaks, early-stage mechanical deterioration, and subtle partial discharge patterns in high-voltage electrical assets.
Acoustic data is combined with a 13 MP optical camera and displayed on a large 8-inch capacitive touchscreen, creating real-time visual sound overlays that make faults easy to see, locate, and document. With a detection range of up to 200 m, the MPAC208 is suitable for close inspections as well as safe stand-off testing in substations, switchgear rooms, overhead line environments, and industrial facilities.
Three Operating Modes for Industrial Diagnostics
The MPAC208 acoustic camera includes three dedicated operating modes to support different inspection tasks:
Gas Leak Mode
Automatically estimates leak rate, leak distance, and cost impact, helping maintenance teams prioritise repairs and reduce energy waste.
Partial Discharge Mode
Captures partial discharge activity and provides PRPD analysis to support early detection and classification of discharge types in high-voltage electrical systems.
Mechanical Mode
Identifies ultrasonic signatures related to bearing wear, valve leakage, cavitation, vibration issues, and mechanical deterioration.
Optional Thermal Imaging Capability
For enhanced diagnostics, the MPAC208 can be fitted with an optional thermal imaging module. This enables side-by-side acoustic and thermal visualisation, allowing technicians to compare heat signatures with ultrasonic anomalies for faster root cause analysis.
Rugged, Portable, and Field Ready
Designed for demanding industrial environments, the Megger MPAC208 is lightweight at 1.4 kg, has an IP54 environmental rating, and uses interchangeable smart batteries.
