MikroTik CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe Ethernet router
MikroTik CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe is a Smart PCIe network interface card that add full-fledged router capabilities to your server. The smart and easy way to create a 25 Gigabit network is if you want to save space in your server room.
Save space in your server room by adding a real CCR2004…to the server itself! This unique product combines a simple 2x 25 Gigabit PCIe Ethernet adapter with the impressive capabilities of a full-fledged router.
By default, the PCIe interface will show up as four virtual Ethernet interfaces. Two interfaces in forward mode to 25G SFP28 cage. The remaining two virtual Ethernet-PCIe interfaces are connected to the Gigabit Ethernet port for management access. Users are free to configure all interfaces and settings as we are running a fully functional RouterOS here.
To get this CCR device to work as a NIC, a new Passthrough mode was implemented. Basically, a FastForward FastPath mode that can also pass hardware link statuses.
This network card can achieve wire speed (100 Gbps) with jumbo frames. This ensures that in most server configurations this CCR NIC will not be the bottleneck.
With 4GB of RAM, 128MB of NAND storage, and a powerful 64-bit ARMv8 quad-core processor, this device can handle a lot: firewalls, user management, and access control for file servers and home vehicles, even some traffic control. in the data center – without the need for a standalone router.
This form factor has some limitations that you should keep in mind. CCR NIC takes some time to warm up compared to ASIC-based setups. If the host system is activated before the CCR tag, it will not appear among the available devices. You need to add PCIe device initialization delay after powering on in BIOS. Or you will need to reset the PCIe device from the HOST system.
