Megger primeon Automated Cable Fault Location System

Overview

The Megger primeon is a fully automated, fully integrated cable fault location and diagnostics system for medium-voltage distribution networks. Software-operated with motorised high-voltage switching, it guides the operator through prelocation, testing and pinpointing from a single touchscreen – combining all the methods needed to find and precisely locate cable faults without repeated manual reconnection.

The system brings together time-domain reflectometry (TDR), arc reflection (ARM), impulse-current and decay methods, a surge generator (thumper) for pinpointing, plus VLF testing, tan delta and partial discharge diagnostics. With inherent safety features such as immediate discharge and earthing on power loss and compliance with EN 61010 / EN 50191, primeon makes mobile cable diagnostics fast, repeatable and safe.
