The DET4TC2 from Megger is a compact, lightweight instrument for measuring earthing. It can do 2, 3, and 4-point testing with variable frequency, attached rod technique (with optional clamp available separately), stateless testing (via optional clamp again), leakage current, and ground noise voltage measurements.

The DET4TC2 is straightforward to operate and has an easy-to-understand interface. To switch between tests, simply turn the rotary dial to the desired test type. The frequency of the test can then be selected using the Hz to switch between 94, 105, 111, and 128Hz modes, and the overall voltage of the test procedure can be changed between 25/50V. There’s also a button for turning on the LCD screen’s backlight, which allows you to view your measurements even in low-light situations. After that, simply push the test button to start the test and obtain readings.

The Megger DET4TC2 can use ART by using ICLAMP (a separate accessory Megger), which permits electrode testing without connection and leakage current measurements. You can also utilize the VCLAMP attachment (available separately) to do genuine stakeless measurements, which are perfect for areas where driving stakes are not possible.

This tester has an overall resistance range of 0.01 to 200k, a ground noise voltage range of 1V to 100V, and a ground current measuring range of 1mA to 20A. The DET4TC2 contains noise evaluation and rejection to help maintain the accuracy of test findings, and the device will automatically reject noise voltages of 40V peak to peak to limit the total influence electrical noise can have on test results.
