Kyoritsu KEW 4106 Earth Resistance and Resistivity Tester

Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 4106 is a professional digital earth resistance and soil-resistivity tester for demanding earthing measurements. Supporting 2-, 3- and 4-pole methods, it measures both earth resistance and, using the 4-pole (Wenner) method, soil resistivity — the key data engineers need to design earthing systems for substations, towers and large installations. It covers everything from in-house wiring and appliances to power distribution lines.

A standout feature is its advanced noise handling: an FFT-based filtering method and four selectable test-current frequencies (94 / 105 / 111 / 128 Hz, automatic or manual) let it make accurate measurements even in electrically noisy environments near live power lines. A high test current (up to 80 mA) and a low output voltage (10 Vrms or lower) support reliable readings, and the large graphic backlit display can show auxiliary-spike resistance, test-current frequency, interference voltage/frequency and residual resistance Rk. Up to 800 results are stored in memory and transferred to a PC with the KEW Report software via USB. The instrument has a robust IP54-rated housing.
