• Can it test a rod without disconnecting it? No. The Attached Rod Technique needs the DET3TC with its optional current clamp.
• Does it measure soil resistivity? No. Soil resistivity surveys need a 4-terminal instrument such as the DET4 series.
• When should I pick 25 V? Only where local rules require it; the factory setting is 50 V, which tolerates higher stake resistance.
• Can I use it on bonding checks? Yes. Use the 2P (two-terminal) setting to measure the resistance between an electrode and a known good earth, such as metallic pipework or building steelwork. Megger notes that the a.c. test voltage may not suit continuity tests under some local regulations.
