Megger DET4TR2 Overview

• Does the DET4TR2 do ART or stakeless tests? No. Both methods need the clamp-capable DET4TC2 or DET4TCR2.
• Which test frequency does it use? A fixed 128 Hz at ±25 V or ±50 V; the TC models add 94, 105 and 111 Hz to work around interference.
• How long does a charge last? Roughly 700 tests in a row, or around 3 hours of use, according to Megger’s DET4 series figures.
• Can I put alkaline AA cells in the DET4TR2? No. Megger’s user guide says not to replace the DET4TR2’s rechargeable cells with non-rechargeable cells or try to charge dry cells, because it can damage the instrument and cause injury. Use 8 × AA NiMH cells and only the Megger charger supplied; a full charge takes about 17 hours. If you want to run on alkaline cells, choose the DET4TD2.
