Kyoritsu KEW 8031 Phase Indicator (Phase Rotation Tester)

Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 8031 is a contact-type phase indicator used to check the phase sequence (rotation) of three-phase electrical supplies before connecting motors and other rotation-sensitive equipment. Connecting a three-phase supply with the phases in the wrong order makes motors run backwards, which can damage machinery; the KEW 8031 lets an electrician confirm the correct rotation in seconds and detect an open (missing) phase.

The KEW 8031 works on three-phase supplies from 110 to 600 V AC at 50/60 Hz. It indicates the phase sequence with three lamps and a rotating disc that turns clockwise for correct (positive) rotation and counter-clockwise for reversed rotation, giving a clear visual confirmation. It needs no battery — it is powered by the circuit under test — and carries a high CAT IV 300 V / CAT III 600 V safety rating.
