The Megger TDR500/3 is a compact, easy-to-use single-channel time domain reflectometer (TDR) for locating faults on metallic cable pairs. By sending a pulse down the cable and displaying the reflections, it shows the distance to opens, shorts, joints and other impedance changes on a clear backlit graphic display – a practical, affordable tool for telecom and power cable technicians.
Ranges from 10 m up to 5 km with 0.1 m resolution and a 2 ns pulse for near-end faults cover most everyday jobs, and an adjustable velocity factor (0.2–0.99) and selectable output impedance match it to different cable types. Optional fused test leads allow connection to live systems up to 150 V CAT IV, while long battery life (up to 14 hours) and an IP54-rated case make it dependable in the field.
