The MEGGER PDS 60-v2 Portable PD Detection system incorporates state-of-the-art technology for fault detection in electrical networks, specifically designed to enhance efficiency and accuracy in locating faults across a variety of settings. A key feature of this advanced system is its Active ARM fault location capability coupled with built-in impulse generation, making it a highly versatile and essential tool for utility workers and engineers tasked with maintaining and testing electrical systems.
The PDS 60-v2 allows for precise prelocation of faults using either a surge generator or directly for low voltage (LV) fault location, showcasing its adaptability to different operational requirements. This compatibility with all surge generators and reflectometers further underscores its utility in a wide range of environments and technical scenarios.
A standout component of the system is the ARM 3-E module, which is specifically engineered to prelocate high resistance faults effectively. It achieves this by providing short-term stabilization of an arc, crucial in maintaining the fault location during testing. Once stabilized, the arc can be precisely ignited using a Surge Wave Generator (SWG), which is capable of handling surge voltages up to 32 kV. This capability is particularly beneficial for accurately pinpointing fault locations in challenging conditions.
Moreover, the ARM 3-E enhances the effectiveness of the SWG by eliminating high impedance in the current circuit. This optimization allows the SWG’s ignition power to be fully utilized, making the PDS 60-v2 especially effective in long cables, cables with poor transmission, or in environments subjected to extreme wet conditions. By improving the conductivity of the testing circuit, the ARM 3-E ensures that the surge generator operates at peak efficiency, thereby enhancing the overall fault detection process.
