Megger TDM 4540 MV Cable Test and Diagnostics System

Overview

The Megger TDM 4540 is a high-power VLF test and diagnostics system for medium-voltage cables, rated up to 45 kV. It combines withstand testing with advanced condition diagnostics in one platform, letting utilities and contractors both prove and assess MV cable circuits – particularly the large cable systems found in renewable-energy networks – from a single system.

The TDM 4540 provides VLF sinusoidal (45 kV peak), VLF cosine-rectangular (40 kV RMS), DC (±45 kV) and DAC (±40 kV peak) test voltages with automatic VLF frequency adaption from 0.01 to 0.1 Hz. Integrated tan delta (loss factor) measurement (10⁻³ to 1, 10⁻⁴ resolution) and partial-discharge detection (VLF sine, VLF CR/slope and DAC methods) assess insulation condition, and it can test cables with up to 5 µF capacitance – around 30 km – controlled via the VLF unit and laptop, or integrated with Primeon/Centrix systems.
