Overview
The Megger VLF Connection Set is an accessory for Megger VLF (very low frequency) cable test and diagnostic systems. Its job is to make sure the VLF measuring equipment is attached to the cable under test through a connection that is both safe and mechanically tight, and — importantly for diagnostics — free of partial discharge that could otherwise mask the readings. This lets engineers carry out VLF withstand testing and partial-discharge diagnosis reliably, even where the cable is terminated in elbows or T-bodies.
The set includes adapters for a range of connection situations, such as a three-phase pliers adapter and SF6 elbow adapters (available in M12 and M16 sizes to suit different elbow connectors), together with silicone grease to ease installation of the elbow adapter. The single-phase elbow adapters support partial-discharge diagnosis, giving a PD-free connection so faults can be located accurately during testing.
