Turner Designs CF-200 Hydrocarbon Instruments, in partnership with Benchmark International, is proud to present the CF-200 Algae Monitor. Using a C-Fluor fluorescent probe, the online monitor is fully integrated and ready to detect chlorophyll A in fresh or seawater.

Plankton biomass in seawater can change with the seasons, weather, and other uncontrollable conditions. Industrial facilities supplied with seawater can be affected by high concentrations of plankton. Reverse osmosis desalination systems can have high differential pressures and, when treated with chlorine, can have high disinfection byproducts in the permeable membrane.

Chlorophyll A is the main pigment in algae. Its measurement in seawater is an effective method for monitoring total plankton concentrations. When pretreatment of the reverse osmosis membrane system, the algae concentration should be less than 100 micrograms/liter (ppb), corresponding to 2 micrograms/liter of chlorophyll A.
