Megger VF6 EX Hazardous-Area Non-Contact Voltage Detector

Overview

The Megger VF6 EX is the hazardous-area version of Megger’s pen-style non-contact AC voltage detector. Ex-rated for use in explosive atmospheres, it is designed for gas platforms, refineries, petrochemical plants and other environments where a standard voltage detector cannot safely be used. Held near a conductor, socket or cable, it indicates the presence of AC voltage without electrical contact, providing a fast and safe way to prove circuits live or dead in classified areas.

Like the standard VF5, the VF6 EX detects AC voltage from 12 V to 1000 V, is rated to CAT IV 1000 V and signals voltage three ways — with a bright red LED in the white nylon tip, an audible sounder and a vibration alert — so it works reliably in noisy or bright surroundings. A bright white LED torch aids use in poor light. Its key distinction is the hazardous-area (Ex) certification that allows it to be taken into zones where flammable gases or vapours may be present.
