Kyoritsu KEW 4118A Digital Loop / PFC / PSC Tester

Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 4118A is a digital loop / PFC / PSC tester used to verify the safety of electrical installations by measuring earth-fault loop impedance and the prospective fault current that would flow in the event of a fault. These measurements confirm that protective devices will disconnect quickly enough under fault conditions, making the 4118A an essential instrument for installation testing, commissioning and periodic inspection.

The KEW 4118A measures loop impedance on 20 / 200 / 2000 Ω ranges and calculates prospective short-circuit current (PSC) / prospective fault current (PFC) up to 20 kA. Its anti-trip technology performs a no-trip loop test (a low 15 mA test current on the 2000 Ω range) so that RCD-protected circuits can be tested without nuisance tripping. Three LEDs indicate correct wiring status and flag reversed phase/neutral connections, and a large custom display shows results clearly. It operates on 230 V, 50 Hz supplies, is rated CAT III 300 V and weighs about 750 g.
