Kyoritsu KEW 5202 Digital Light (Lux) Meter

Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 5202 is a digital light (lux) meter used to measure illuminance — the amount of light falling on a surface — in offices, factories, schools, hospitals and other workplaces. Its separate, cabled light-receiving sensor can be placed exactly where the reading is needed (on a desk or work surface) while the meter is read comfortably in the hand, making it easy to verify that lighting levels meet workplace and safety requirements.

The KEW 5202 measures from 0.1 to 19990 lux across three ranges (200 / 2000 / 20000 lux) with about ±4% accuracy, taking 2.5 readings per second. Useful functions include data hold, MAX/MIN capture, a backlight for dim locations and Bluetooth transfer of readings to a mobile device. The sensor connects on a roughly 1 m cable, and the meter runs from a single 9 V battery in a compact 270 g body.
