The Megger M-THUMP5 is a compact, portable low-voltage cable fault location system that combines every stage of fault finding — pre-location, pinpointing, proof testing and fault conditioning — in a single rugged unit. Delivering 1000 J of surge energy at 5 kV and a bright sunlight-readable display, it lets utility and industrial teams locate cable faults quickly and accurately in the field.

High surge energy — 1000 J single-stage output at 5 kV for effective thumping and pinpointing of LV cable faults.
Multiple pre-location methods — TDR with phase comparison, Arc Reflection Method (ARM®) with multishot, and ICE surge-pulse reflection.
Long TDR range — pre-locates faults on cable runs up to 52 km (160,000 ft).
Proof & burn testing — 0–5 kV DC continuous proof test with two-stage burning (500 mA at 0–1 kV, 70 mA at 1–5 kV) for fault conditioning.
Sheath fault & insulation testing — built-in sheath fault testing and insulation-resistance readout.
Sunlight-readable display — 7-inch HiBrite TFT colour display at 1280 × 800 for clear outdoor use.
Field-ready build — heavy-duty aluminium enclosure with handles, IP53 (top open), −20 °C to +50 °C operation.
