Megger Resonating Inductor

Overview

The Megger Resonating Inductor is an accessory that expands the capacitance and dissipation-factor (power-factor) measuring range of Megger’s DELTA-series insulation test sets, such as the DELTA4000. By connecting in parallel with the test-set supply, its inductance resonates with the capacitance of the item under test, allowing high-capacitance equipment to be tested at full voltage without exceeding the test set’s current capability.

Inductance is adjusted by a manual hand crank, with a core-gap gauge showing the inductor position, so the operator can tune the circuit for optimum performance. Capable of tuning capacitances up to 1 µF at 10 kV, the Resonating Inductor supports ungrounded, grounded and grounded-with-guard test modes, making it a valuable tool for tan delta testing of cables, motors, generators, transformers, bushings and breakers.
