Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 3161A is a compact, lightweight analogue insulation tester for checking the insulation resistance of electrical wiring and equipment. Its backlit needle display gives an intuitive, at-a-glance indication that is easy to read even in poor light, and at just 340 g it is convenient to carry and use one-handed. Automatic capacitive discharge and remote-control test leads make it safe and quick to operate.

The KEW 3161A is a dual-range instrument: a 500 V DC test voltage provides insulation-resistance measurement with a scale to 100 MΩ, while a lower-voltage range (scale to 20 MΩ) suits sensitive or low-voltage circuits. It also measures AC voltage up to 600 V. Rated CAT III 300 V / CAT II 600 V and powered by four AA batteries, it is a practical everyday insulation tester for installation and maintenance work.
