Kyoritsu KEW 3165 Analogue Insulation Tester

Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 3165 is a compact, lightweight analogue insulation tester for measuring the insulation resistance of electrical wiring, cables and equipment. Its needle display uses an expanded megohm scale that is easy to read at a glance, and at just 330 g it is convenient to carry and use one-handed. Automatic discharge of the stored charge after a test adds to operator safety.

The KEW 3165 applies a 500 V DC test voltage and measures insulation resistance up to 1000 MΩ (mid-scale 20 MΩ), with its most accurate readings in the 1 to 500 MΩ range. It also measures AC voltage up to 600 V, so a circuit can be checked for the presence of voltage before an insulation test. Powered by four AA batteries, it is a simple, dependable tester for installation and maintenance work.
