Kyoritsu KEW 3131A Analogue Insulation and Continuity Tester

Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 3131A is a rugged analogue insulation and continuity tester for verifying the safety of electrical wiring and equipment. Its needle display gives an intuitive, at-a-glance indication that many electricians prefer for watching insulation values settle, and an IP54-rated, drop-resistant housing makes it dependable in demanding field conditions. It combines high-voltage insulation testing with low-resistance continuity testing in one simple instrument.

The KEW 3131A offers insulation test voltages of 250, 500 and 1000 V, with corresponding scales to 100, 200 and 400 MΩ, and performs continuity testing with a minimum 200 mA test current over a 2 to 20 Ω range (open-circuit voltage 4 to 9 V DC) — meeting wiring-regulation requirements. It also measures AC voltage. Rated CAT III 300 V and powered by six AA batteries, it weighs about 860 g and is built for everyday installation and maintenance testing.
