Fluke 17B MAX Overview

The Fluke 17B MAX is the fuller of Fluke’s two B MAX meters. On top of the voltage, current, resistance and capacitance ranges it shares with the 15B MAX, it adds frequency, duty cycle and type K temperature, plus a hazardous-voltage LED that lights at 30 V or more. The display reads to 6000 counts and Fluke specifies a minimum of 500 hours from two AA cells.

In the UAE, the 17B MAX is a practical everyday meter for split-unit and VRF service technicians, who can check run capacitors, supply voltage and pipe temperature with one tool.

What does the 17B MAX add over the 15B MAX?

Frequency, duty cycle, type K temperature, the hazardous-voltage LED, and the Relative (REL) and MIN MAX modes, which Fluke’s users manual marks as 17B MAX only. Voltage, current, resistance and capacitance specs are the same.

Is the 17B MAX True-RMS?

Fluke does not describe the 17B MAX as True-RMS. For non-sinusoidal loads such as drives, choose a True-RMS model like the Fluke 117 EUR or 87V.

What does the red LED mean?

It lights when the meter detects 30 V or more, as a hazardous-voltage warning.

What safety rating does it carry?

CAT III 600 V to IEC 61010-1, with a 1000 V maximum between terminals.
