The Megger CI/LCI Cable Identifier is designed to ensure the safe identification of de-energized primary cables within a group of energized or de-energized cables. It also allows for the identification of live secondary cables up to 240 V AC, with an optional capability to handle up to 440 V AC. The identification process is highly reliable and safe, utilizing a DC pulse system with a magnitude up to 100 A to avoid any false positives. The device includes a transmitter that can be powered by 120 V AC or its internal battery, which provides up to 50 hours of runtime.

The CI/LCI system safely identifies cables using a DC pulse method, which involves the detection of the polarity and signal strength (up to 100 A) emitted by the transmitter. This signal is captured by a receiver equipped with a clip-on probe. The transmitter is versatile, operating either from a standard 120 V AC power source or an internal battery, which provides up to 50 hours of operation. The system is designed to work without any need for adjustments by the user and is engineered to eliminate the risk of false positive results in cable identification.
