Megger IDAX300
The Megger IDAX300 is a state-of-the-art insulation diagnostic instrument that employs Dielectric Frequency Response (DFR) technology, also known as Frequency Domain Spectroscopy (FDS). This advanced technology, traditionally used in laboratory settings, has been adapted by Megger for efficient use in field applications through the IDAX300.
DFR technology works by accurately measuring capacitance and losses, represented by the dissipation factor (tanδ) or power factor, across a range of frequencies. The resulting DFR curve provides valuable insights into the insulation’s condition, influenced by factors such as insulation geometry, moisture levels, oil conductivity, and temperature. With the help of sophisticated algorithms, the IDAX300 analyzes this data against a reference material model to determine key parameters, including the moisture content in solid insulation, the oil’s conductivity at 25°C, and tanδ at 20°C.
