Megger PA2505K Phantom Load

Overview

The Megger PA2505K is a portable phantom load used to test watt-hour (energy) meters. It provides a controlled, adjustable source of current and voltage that is applied simultaneously to the meter under test and to a calibrated reference standard, so the two can be compared to determine the meter’s accuracy – the classic comparison method used by utilities.

A variable autotransformer gives smooth, continuous current adjustment across several full-load and light-load ranges, while a toggle switch selects 50% or 100% power factor for testing under different load conditions. Housed in a compact metal carrying case, the PA2505K is well suited to both field and laboratory testing of single-phase and polyphase meters.
