Overview

The Megger TM1800 is a modular, computer-based circuit breaker analyzer system built for advanced timing and motion analysis of high-voltage circuit breakers in substations, switchgear works and service workshops. Its user-configurable module design lets a single instrument be tailored to almost any breaker type and test job, from simple timing checks to full first-trip, motion and dynamic resistance diagnostics. A built-in industrial PC running CABA Local software with an 8-inch display makes the TM1800 fully self-contained in the field, while the same results can be transferred to CABA Win on a PC for detailed analysis and reporting.

The TM1800 introduces Megger’s DualGround testing using the DCM (Dynamic Capacitive Measurement) module, which allows main-contact timing to be measured with the breaker grounded on both sides. Keeping both sides of the breaker earthed throughout the test greatly increases operator safety and satisfies strict site grounding rules without sacrificing measurement quality. Combined with dynamic resistance measurement, coil current signatures, motion and vibration analysis, the TM1800 gives a complete picture of a breaker’s mechanical and electrical condition in a single connection.
