Overview
The Megger TORKEL 900 series are portable battery load units used to verify the true capacity and condition of stationary battery banks in substations, telecom sites, data centres, power plants and other installations where standby power must be dependable. A battery bank can be tested while it remains in service, and TORKEL controls the discharge so the battery is loaded exactly as required — making it easy to determine whether the bank still meets its rated capacity or has degraded and needs attention.
The series comprises three models. The TORKEL 910 handles currents up to 110 A at system voltages to 300 V; the TORKEL 930 doubles the current capability to 220 A at 300 V and adds battery voltage monitoring (BVM), charging measurement and full report functionality; and the TORKEL 950 offers the same 220 A capability for higher-voltage systems up to 500 V. All models discharge in constant-current, constant-power, constant-resistance or profile modes, and the 930 and 950 can be expanded with TXL extra load units when a single unit’s current is not enough. Results are stored and can be edited, analysed and reported in the included TORKEL Viewer PC software.
