Megger VLF Sine Wave 62 kV Cable Tester

Overview

The Megger VLF Sine Wave 62 kV is a portable cable test system that applies a true sine-wave very-low-frequency (VLF) test voltage for commissioning, maintenance and condition assessment of medium- and high-voltage cables. As the highest-rated model in the sine-wave VLF range, it combines a powerful 62 kV output with automatic frequency control and a modern touchscreen interface, making it suitable for longer and higher-voltage cable circuits while remaining transportable for field work.

It delivers up to 62 kVpeak (44 kVrms) as a true 0.1 Hz sine wave, and can also perform DC tests up to ±62 kV and sheath tests to −20 kV (with the ESG NT2 probe), handling loads up to 10 µF. Automatic frequency adjustment matches the cable’s capacitance for efficient testing, and safety is covered by breakdown detection, automatic discharge and an analogue residual-voltage indicator. Results are stored internally and exported by USB to MeggerBook, and the system supports optional internal tan-delta diagnostics with IEEE 400.2 evaluation and partial-discharge measurement via the PDS 62-SIN coupler.
