Kyoritsu KEW 4102A Analogue Earth Resistance Tester

Overview

The Kyoritsu KEW 4102A is a rugged analogue earth (ground) resistance tester used to verify the integrity of earthing systems in electrical installations, substations and lightning-protection systems. Its needle display gives an intuitive, direct reading, and an IP54-rated, dust- and drip-proof housing makes it dependable outdoors and on site. This is the soft-case model of the 4102A series (the 4102A-H is the hard-case version).

The KEW 4102A measures earth resistance on three ranges — ×1 (0–12 Ω), ×10 (0–120 Ω) and ×100 (0–1200 Ω) — using the 3-pole (or 2-pole) fall-of-potential method with auxiliary spikes, and also measures earth voltage from 0 to 30 V AC. A low 2 mA test current lets measurements be made without tripping earth-leakage breakers. It is rated CAT III 300 V and powered by six AA batteries in a compact 600 g package.
