Overview
The Megger STX40 is a powerful, portable cable fault location system for analysing, prelocating and pinpointing faults on low- and medium-voltage cables – XLPE, EPR and PILC types. It brings a complete set of test and fault-location methods into one trolley-mounted unit, so a crew can proof-test a cable, prelocate the fault and pinpoint it without swapping instruments.
The system provides DC testing to 40 kV, insulation testing to 20 kV, high-frequency burning to 40 kV, and a surge generator delivering 2000 J at up to 32 kV for thumping. Prelocation uses TDR (radar), arc-reflection multishot, impulse-current (ICE), decay and intermittent-fault methods, with a measurement range to 320 km at 0.1 m resolution. A sunlight-readable 10.1-inch colour touchscreen with single-knob operation makes it approachable despite its capability.
