Overview
The Megger PAT120 is a rugged, battery-powered handheld portable appliance tester (PAT) for checking the electrical safety of Class I and Class II appliances and extension leads. Aimed at users with a low to moderate testing requirement — offices, shops and smaller businesses — it makes routine in-service inspection and testing quick and straightforward, giving a clear PASS/FAIL result without the need for a bench-top instrument or a PC.
The PAT120 performs the three core PAT tests: earth continuity (bond) testing with a bi-directional 200 mA current, insulation resistance testing at 250 V or 500 V DC over a 0.10–99.99 MΩ range, and a substitute-leakage (IEC lead) test. It runs from ordinary AA alkaline batteries (or a NiMH pack), is protected by tough rubber armour with a toughened-glass display and weighs just over 1 kg. It is the entry model of the PAT100 series; the PAT150 and PAT150R add earth-leakage, touch-current and portable-RCD testing.
