The Megger BGL was developed to detect, monitor and locate grounding faults on battery systems without segmenting the battery. It works on active or dead battery systems up to 260 V DC and reads grounding resistance directly. To save hours of unnecessary troubleshooting, the BGL easily distinguishes resistive fault current from capacitive load current — by measuring the 25 Hz power dissipated in the grounding resistance it eliminates the effects of charging current from voltage-spike suppression capacitors, so it can detect and monitor genuine leakage paths and even track two or more ground faults simultaneously.
