Megger CDAX 605 High-Precision Capacitance and Dissipation Factor Test Set

Overview

The Megger CDAX 605 is a high-precision instrument for measuring capacitance and dissipation factor (tan delta), together with power factor and the resistive and inductive components of impedance. It is used to assess the insulation condition of transformers, bushings, instrument transformers and insulators, and its very high accuracy makes it suitable both for field diagnostics and for laboratory and manufacturing measurements where tight tolerances must be verified.

The CDAX 605 measures capacitance up to 100 µF with an accuracy of 0.02% and dissipation factor over a 0–100 range with an accuracy of 0.001%, across a wide 5–400 Hz frequency range synchronised to the power frequency or a reference signal. It measures in all four quadrants, so capacitive, resistive and inductive test objects are all handled, and it works with any reference value without recalculation. As a bridge-type measurement, it is used together with a high-voltage AC source and a calibrated standard capacitor.
