The Megger DCM300E is a high-resolution AC clamp meter, ideal for checking nuisance tripping of RCDs. It is designed primarily to measure earth-leakage currents, with a dedicated 30 mA range giving resolution down to 10 µA, and it can also measure earth leakage on RCDs rated at 300 mA, 30 A and 300 A. A typical use is measuring earth-leakage current in a circuit where a GFCI/RCD repeatedly trips: the reading quickly shows whether excessive leakage current is causing the trip or whether the RCD itself is faulty. An analogue-style bargraph makes changing currents easy to follow.
