Megger DLRO600 Overview

The Megger DLRO600 is a high-current micro-ohmmeter delivering up to 600 A d.c. for low resistance testing of large circuit breakers, busbars and high-current connections. Using a four-terminal measurement technique to eliminate test-lead resistance, it measures from 0.1 µΩ to 1 Ω and stores results for reporting — built for demanding substation commissioning and maintenance.

Who the Megger DLRO600 is for

The Megger DLRO600 suits substation commissioning crews, switchgear builders and maintenance teams who must prove contact and joint resistance at several hundred amps, where a 10 A or 100 A instrument would not load the joint enough. It weighs 14.5 kg without leads (410 × 250 × 270 mm), so it can be carried from bay to bay, yet Megger rates it for more than 60 seconds at 600 A at 20 °C ambient.

How the three test modes in the DLRO600 datasheet (V14) work:

• Normal: the current ramps up, holds for 2 seconds and ramps down again, so one test takes about 7 seconds
• Auto: the current leads stay on the ends of the busbar and a test starts as soon as both potential probes touch a joint, which speeds up a row of joints
• Continuous: current keeps flowing until you stop it, with the reading refreshed every 2 seconds, for watching a resistance over time

Points that decide how much current you actually get:

• Full output needs a 207 to 265 V, 50/60 Hz supply and a total load under 7 mΩ including the leads; output falls on supplies down to 100 V
• The standard 5 m, 50 mm² leads add about 4 mΩ; the optional 10 m (70 mm²) and 15 m (95 mm²) sets add 5.4 mΩ and 6 mΩ
• Resistance accuracy is better than 1% from 100 µΩ to 100 mΩ, with voltage and current each read to ±0.5%
• Upper and lower result limits and a maximum test current can be keyed in, and each of the 300 stored results can carry a note of up to 200 characters

Megger DLRO600 FAQ

Questions engineers ask about the DLRO600:

• Does the Megger DLRO600 run on batteries? No. It is mains powered: full output needs 207 to 265 V, and it keeps working at reduced output down to 100 V.
• Can I use longer current leads? Yes. Megger offers 10 m (70 mm²) and 15 m (95 mm²) lead sets. Longer leads add resistance, so check the output chart in the datasheet for the current you can still reach.
• How do results get to a PC? Through the RS232 port, either live or as a batch download of the stored results with Download Manager. The same port can feed a printer.
• What does NLS mean in DLRO600-EN-NLS? It is the version without the test lead set. The standard DLRO600-EN includes the 5 m lead set.
