Megger Smart Thump ST25-30 Cable Fault Location System

Overview

The Megger Smart Thump ST25-30 is a higher-power member of the Smart Thump range, providing integrated cable fault location for medium-voltage distribution cables from 11 to 35 kV. Like the ST16-20 it combines a surge (thumper) generator, reflectometer and automated test sequences in one portable, cart-mounted unit – but with greater output for longer or more difficult cable runs.

It offers DC HV proof testing to 30 kV and surge thumping up to 25 kV (dual-stage 12.5/25 kV) delivering 1600 J, alongside TDR, arc-reflection multishot prelocation, ICE surge-pulse, sheath-fault and earth-gradient location. Results are interpreted automatically and shown on a 7-inch sunlight-readable colour display, and the system runs from AC mains or a 12 V battery, cart-mounted or permanently vehicle-installed.
