Overview

The Megger TRAX 220 is a multifunction transformer and substation test system that combines the capability of many separate instruments into a single, self-contained unit. Built for power, distribution and instrument transformer testing as well as general substation apparatus, it performs winding resistance, turns ratio, excitation current, leakage reactance, demagnetization, tan delta/power factor and more — dramatically reducing the instruments an engineer must carry and the connections that must be made on site.

Unlike the computer-controlled TRAX 219, the TRAX 220 has a built-in 10.4-inch XGA touchscreen and comes with the Standard Transformer software package, so it can be operated fully as a stand-alone instrument in the field. It provides up to 200 A AC winding-resistance current and a variable-frequency source (5–505 Hz) for temperature-corrected tan delta and power-factor testing, with high measurement accuracy. Optional software packages extend it to tap-changer analysis, frequency response of stray losses, magnetic balance, instrument-transformer testing and more.
