The Megger FRAX99 is a Sweep Frequency Response Analyzer (SFRA) for assessing the mechanical and electrical integrity of power transformers and other apparatus. Using the SFRA technique, it detects issues in the windings, core and structure that are difficult to find with traditional tests, comparing each measurement against a reference fingerprint to reveal geometric or electrical changes.

FRAX99 transformer diagnostic applications

The FRAX99 is used to check the mechanical integrity of transformer windings and cores after transport, through-faults or seismic events, and as part of routine condition assessment. By comparing frequency-response fingerprints with baseline, sister-unit or phase-to-phase data, engineers can identify winding movement and deformation before a failure occurs.
