Megger TDAcompact Loss Factor Analyzer

Overview

The Megger TDAcompact is a portable capacitance and tan delta (loss factor) analyzer used to assess the condition of high-voltage insulation. It is especially suited to the epoxy-mica insulation of rotating machines and to oil-paper and mass-impregnated cable insulation, measuring the dissipation factor and capacitance that reveal ageing, moisture and other degradation.

By sampling the AC current from the device under test and a reference capacitor simultaneously – via digital fiber-optic links to precision shunts that allow operation at any potential – the TDAcompact delivers accurate, continuously displayed capacitance, tan delta and high-voltage readings. It can be used as a stand-alone instrument or as part of an automated test system with HVpilot software, and complete portable tan delta testers including the HV transformer are available on request.
