The “Conductivity/TDS/Salinity Meter”(Extech EC400) is a tool for measuring a solution’s electrical conductivity, which may be used to calculate salinity, total dissolved solids (TDS), and salt concentrations. This tool is often utilized in a number of sectors, including agricultural, food and beverage manufacturing, water treatment, and environmental monitoring.
Extech’s EC400 ExStik® features six measurement units, an internal memory capable of storing up to 15 labeled values for easy recall, and an adjustable conductivity to TDS ratio factor ranging from 0.4 to 1.0. It also offers self-calibration upon powering on. Utilizing unique sensor technology and the latest microprocessor chip technology, the EC400 simultaneously monitors conductivity, TDS, salinity, and temperature. The device ensures quick, precise, and repeatable testing with the convenience of adjustable cell constants at the push of a button. The package includes the meter, conductivity cell, guard cap, sample cup, four CR2032 batteries, and a 48″ (1.2m) neckstrap.
A probe is normally used by the apparatus, and it is inserted into the solution being measured. Two electrodes in the probe allow it to gauge the solution’s electrical conductivity. Depending on the device’s calibration, the electrical conductivity is subsequently translated into a measurement of TDS or salinity.
Salts, minerals, and other organic and inorganic substances are all included in the Extech EC400 measurement of the total quantity of dissolved solids in a solution. On the other hand, salinity is a measurement of the amount of dissolved salts in a solution. These measures are critical for a number of purposes, including gauging the health of aquatic ecosystems, monitoring water quality in aquaculture systems, and determining the salt content of foods and beverages.
