Megger TORKEL 950 Battery Load Unit

Overview

The Megger TORKEL 950 is a portable battery load unit used to verify the true capacity and condition of stationary battery banks in substations, power plants, telecom sites, data centres and other installations that depend on reliable standby power. As the premium model of the TORKEL 900 series, it lets a battery bank be tested while it remains in service and controls the discharge precisely so the battery is loaded exactly as required to confirm whether it still meets its rated capacity.

The TORKEL 950 draws up to 220 A and, uniquely in the series, supports higher system voltages up to 500 V, with a maximum load of 15 kW. It discharges in constant-current, constant-power, constant-resistance or current/power-profile modes and includes battery voltage monitoring (BVM), charging measurement and full report functionality. When a single unit’s current is insufficient it can be expanded with TXL830/850/865/870/890 extra load units. Operation is via a 7-inch capacitive colour touchscreen, and the included TORKEL Viewer PC software is used to edit, analyse and report the results.
