Megger FOS4 Fiber Optic Transmission

The Megger FOS4 Fiber Optic Transmission System is an advanced tool designed for testing and maintaining fiber optic networks. This device is crucial for ensuring the integrity and performance of fiber optic communication systems, which are fundamental in telecommunications, data transmission, and broadband networks.

The ICMacoustic software provides comprehensive control of the FOS4 system for partial discharge (PD) location purposes, including capabilities for averaging and trigger logic. It is specifically designed to facilitate the acoustic detection of partial discharges within transformers using the triangulation method. The primary approach simplifies the localization task into a “flat problem” by initially arranging three sensors horizontally to ascertain the discharge’s horizontal layer position (as depicted in the upper graph of the software’s measurement panel).

Megger FOS4 Key Features

  • Sampling rate: 65 MS/s
  • Up to 12 receiver units with independent optical channels
  • Remote controlled via high speed USB port
