Megger DDA-1600 Circuit Breaker Test Set

Overview

The Megger DDA-1600 is a high-current circuit breaker test set designed to test low-voltage power circuit breakers up to 1600 A frame size by primary injection. By passing a high current directly through the breaker, it confirms that the breaker trips correctly and within its rated time — an essential check for ensuring protective devices will operate safely. Beyond breaker testing it can also verify current-transformer ratios and test thermal and magnetic motor-overload relays.

The DDA-1600 delivers 1,600 A continuously, up to 19,200 A to air-frame breakers through stabs and up to 14,400 A to moulded-case breakers via 5 ft cables. It uses the DDA-1 digital data acquisition system with DSP technology for precise SCR control, eliminating closing-time errors and allowing initiation at any point within 90° of the zero crossover. Variable pulse-time and firing-angle control, pulsed and maintained operating modes and NEMA AB-4 compliance make it a versatile, accurate test set, supplied as three modular, portable units for easy transport.
