Megger IDAX300 and IDAX350-Insulation Diagnostic Analyser

The Megger IDAX300 and IDAX350 models are cutting-edge insulation diagnostic instruments, which utilize Dielectric Frequency Response (DFR) technology, also known in technical circles as Frequency Domain Spectroscopy (FDS). This technology, originally a staple in laboratory environments, has been innovatively adapted by Megger for practical field use across the IDAX range.

DFR technology involves the precise measurement of capacitance and losses, quantified through the dissipation factor (tanδ) or power factor, across multiple frequencies. This allows the DFR curve to provide detailed insights, as it varies based on factors such as insulation geometry, moisture content, oil conductivity, and temperature. By using advanced algorithms to fit this data to a reference material model, the IDAX instruments can effectively calculate critical parameters such as moisture content in solid insulation, oil conductivity at a standardized 25°C, and tanδ at 20°C.

A notable feature in the IDAX series is the Individual Temperature Correction (ITC). This Megger innovation adjusts the test data to correlate with reference temperatures, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of diagnostics. The latest iteration of the IDAX software includes an ITC-corrected frequency sweep tailored for the assessment of instrument transformers and bushings, showcasing its utility in a variety of applications.
