Overview
The Megger 210170 is a classic hand-cranked analog insulation resistance tester designed for dependable field use where no battery or mains supply is available. Turning the hand crank drives an internal AC generator to produce the test voltage, so the instrument is always ready to work. It is used to check the insulation condition of cables, motors, transformers and other electrical equipment, and includes continuity and voltage ranges for general electrical testing.
The 210170 offers four selectable test voltages — 100, 250, 500 and 1000 V DC — chosen by a rotary switch, and reads insulation resistance up to 20,000 MΩ (20 GΩ) across all ranges. A 0 to 5000 Ω continuity range handles low-resistance checks and a 0 to 600 V range measures AC voltage or indicates the presence of DC. Readings are shown on an analog meter calibrated directly in megohms, ohms and AC volts, with an accuracy of ±3% of scale length for insulation. Compact and light at under 1 kg, it is a robust, self-contained tester for everyday use.
