Megger HPG35, HPG50, HPG58 and HPG78 AC HV Test Sets

Overview

The Megger HPG35, HPG50, HPG58 and HPG78 are portable AC high-voltage test sets used for AC withstand (hipot) testing of medium-voltage equipment such as switchgear, voltage and current transformers, insulators and other MV components. Applying a controlled AC test voltage confirms that the insulation can withstand the required stress, and the HPG range covers a spread of voltage ratings so the right set can be matched to the equipment being tested.

Each model is built as a two-part system — a separate control unit and HV unit — so the operator can work at a safe distance from the high-voltage output. Maximum AC output rises through the range from 35 kVrms (HPG35) and 50 kVrms (HPG50) to 58 kVrms (HPG58) and 78 kVrms (HPG78), with continuous power of 1.2–1.5 kVA and higher short-term ratings. All run from a standard 230 V single-phase supply, with output current up to 15 mA continuous (50 mA short-term), making them practical, transportable AC test sources for field and workshop use.
